The 17th anniversary of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan, the father of democracy, a classic figure in Pakistani politics

The 17th anniversary of Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan Nasir, the classical character of Pakistani politics, Urdu style poet, father of democracy is being celebrated with devotion and respect today. Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan belonged to the Noorzai branch of the Multani Pathans and his ancestors settled in the Muzaffargarh area in the 18th century. Nawabzada's ancestral home and agricultural land is located in the Khangarh area, about 20 km from Muzaffargarh, where he was born on November 13, 1916.

In United India, the British government awarded the title of Nawab to Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan's father Saifullah Khan in 1910 and allotted eleven villages.

Nawabzada Nasrullah Khan deviated from his family tradition and started the politics of opposition to power instead of cooperating with the government. He started participating in politics as a student in 1933 and, unlike his family elders, joined the Muslim extremist party Majlis-e-Ahrar instead of joining the ruling Unionist Party. Ahrar's goal was the withdrawal of the British from the subcontinent.

After the formation of Pakistan, Nasrullah Khan mobilized on the platform of the Muslim League and won the 1951 provincial elections from two constituencies in Khangarh. However, when the PML-N government started imposing restrictions on civil liberties, Nawab Zasa Nasrullah Khan sharply criticized these policies and resigned from the party.
